Bakalovych Vladyslav (1833 - 1903)

A famous Polish painter. In the years of 1849 - 1852 he studied at Warsaw Academy of Arts, and from 1853 to 1854 was an auditor to the Academy. Since1863 he had lived and worked in Paris. His works were exhibited at the Salons (1865 - 1883), as well as in Poland, Brussels, Berlin, London and Vienna. He painted the canvases dedicated to the history of Poland, cultus images for Catholic churches, urban landscapes, and portraits of Polish nobility. Created a series of paintings devoted to the life of the French court of XVI and XVII centuries. The works are represented in the collections of the Warsaw and Krakow National Art Museums.
