Baumgartner-Stoilov Adolf Konstyantyn (1850 - 1924)

An artist of Bulgarian descent. Born in the town of Linz, Austria. In 1880 he studied at St. Petersburg Academy of Arts. He became famous as the author of works that depict horses, hunting scenes and races. He also painted genre canvases, developing the subject of the military life of Cossacks. Paintings and drawings of the artist were reproduced in the magazines of 1890Õs - 1900's. Lived and worked in Russia, Austria-Hungary and Bulgaria. His works are stored in the art museums of Europe and private collections. His compositions with horses are in great demand in the antiques market. A great number of his works is stored in the South African collection of G. Bibikov, a representative of an old noble family and heir to the Russian emigrants.
