Vasylkivskyi Sergiy Ivanovych (1854 - 1917)

A prominent Ukrainian artist. Born in the city of Izum, Kharkiv region. He studied at the Drawing School of D. Bezperchyi and M. Ranevskaya - Ivanova in Kharkiv and then at St. Petersburg Academy of Arts (1876 - 1885) in M. Klodt and V. Orlovskyi art studios. In1885 he got a large gold medal and the title of a class artist of the 1st degree. Pensioner of the Academy of Arts in England, France, Spain, Germany and Italy (1886 - 1888). Since 1888 he had had lived in Kharkiv. Together with M. Samokish he prepared the albums "From Ukrainian Antiquity" (1900), "Motifs of Ukrainian ornament" (1912). Author of numerous  historical and genre landscapes and paintings. The works are stored in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, the NAMU, the Kharkiv Art Museum, etc.
