Vinterovskyi Leonard (Winterowsky Leonard, 1886 - 1927)

Ukrainian and Polish painter and graphic artist. Worked in in the field of battle painting, created genre compositions, portraits, and landscapes. He was also engaged in the monumental painting and book graphics. Born in the city of Chernivtsi. In the years of 1894 - 1895 he studied at Krakow Academy of Arts and was awarded a silver medal. Later he continued his studies in Vienna. Lived in Warsaw and Lviv. He took an active part in the exhibitions in Poland and Germany. The posthumous exhibition of the artist was held in 1928 in Warsaw. The works are in the Lviv National Art Gallery, the National Museum in Warsaw, the Lublin Art Museum, and the Museum of Sikorski in London.
