Volkonska (maiden name: Lughinina) Maria Volodymyrivna, Duchess (1875 - 1960)

A Russian artist, author of noble portraits, landscapes. Born in Moscow. Wife of Prince O. Volkonskyi, mother of artist P. Volkonskyi. Studied at Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, attended the Academy of Grande Chaumiere in Paris. Participated in the Spring exhibition in the halls of St. Petersburg Academy of Arts, the Salons of the National Association of Fine Arts and the Tuileries in Paris (1910s). Since 1917 she had permanently lived and worked in France.
