Volokydin Pavlo Gavrylovych (1877 - 1936)

A Ukrainian painter. During 1898 Ð 1905 he studied at Odessa Art School (under the tutelage of G. Kostandi and G. Ladyzhenskyi), in the years of 1905 - 1906 he studied at St. Petersburg Academy of Arts (under the guidance of V. Savinskyi and J. Tsionglynskyi). Since 1907 he had lived and worked in Odessa. Member of the Association of Itinerant Art Exhibitions since 1907, one of the founders of the ArtistsÕ Society n.a. K. Kostandi. In the years of 1922 - 1934 he was the professor of Odessa Art Institute and since 1934 he had been the professor of Kyiv Art Institute. One of the most famous representatives of the south-Russia school of painting. He made a significant contribution to the Ukrainian landscape and portrait painting. His works are stored in the NAMU, Kharkiv and Odessa art museums.
