Ganskyi Petro Pavlovych (1867 - 1942)

A Ukrainian artist, author of chamber exquisite landscapes, genre compositions and portraits. Born in the village of Mykolaivka, Kherson Province, the son of the landowner. From 1885 to 1889 he was an auditor to St. Petersburg Academy of Arts and finished his art education in Paris at lAcademie des Beaux-Arts. Since 1890 he had been an exponent at the exhibitions of the Association of Itinerant Art Exhibitions and since 1894 he had become the member of the latter. He lived mostly abroad, but always participated in the exhibitions held in Odessa. Beginning from 1919, he lived and worked in Paris. A large archive of the artist, including manuscripts, philosophical notes, and his space fiction "Red Star" are stored in the State Archives of France. At the end of his life he took the vows. He was ordained in 1928 and settled in the Monastery of Le Dorat near Paris.
