Gerasymov Sergiy Vasylyovych (1885 - 1964)

A Russian painter, graphic artist, master of landscape, genre painting, and portrait. Born in Mozhaisk, Russia. In the years of 1901 - 1907 he studied at Stroganov Art and Industrial School, from 1907 to 1912 at Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (his teachers were S. Ivanov, K. Korovin). Member of the Association "Moscow Salon" (1911 - 1920), the associations of the "World of Art" (1921), "Makovets" (1922 - 1925), the Society of Young Artists (1926 - 1929), the Association of the Artists of Revolution (1930 - 1932). During the years of 1912 - 1964 he taught at Moscow's art institutions. Professor, Doctor of Arts. People's Artist of the USSR since 1958, member of the the USSR Academy of Arts, Lenin Prize Winner in 1968 (posthumously). He lived and worked in Mozhaisk, then - in Moscow.
