Geftler Karl Edyardovych (1856 - 1918)

A Russian artist-aquarellist, author of numerous cityscapes of Petersburg. Born in Revel, now Tallinn. Moved to Petersburg, where in 1876 he entered the Institute of Civil Engineers (graduated from it in 1882); at the same time he was an auditor to the architectural faculty of St. Petersburg Academy of Arts, from which he graduated in 1896 as a landscape painter. The participant of the art exhibitions since 1888. The watercolors of the artist were very popular among the collectors and art connoisseurs. Active participant of the Society of Russian Watecolorists (later - its honorary member) the Society of Petersburg Artists. For a certain period of time he had worked as a miniaturist for the K. Faberge firm. The works are represented in many private and museum collections, particularly in Omsk Museum of Fine Arts and others.
