Gibson George (1904 - 2001)

A famous American aquarellist, scenery designer. Born in Edinburgh, Scotland. He studied at Edinburgh College of Art and Art School in Glasgow. Still during his studies he began working with the local theater as an artist-stage designer. In 1930 emigrated to the United States, having settled in Los Angeles, where he continued to study painting at Chouinard School of Arts. In the 1940s he was carried away by watercolor painting, in which he had achieved considerable mastership. Member of the American Society of Watercolorist and the U.S. National Academy of Design.  He was a board member and chairman of the California Association of Watercolorists and participated in numerous art exhibitions. During 35 years he worked with leading movie companies in the the U.S., and for a long time he had headed the stage art department of Metro Goldwyn Mayer.
