Glavachek Anton (Hlavacek Anton, 1842 - 1926)

A famous Austrian painter. Born in Vienna. He studied at Vienna Academy of Arts (1854 - 1864). Together with his teacher, the famous German artist A. Zimmerman, he traveled around Germany and Italy several times. Since 1869 he had lived in Vienna. Regularly exhibited his works in Vienna, Berlin, Brussels, Amsterdam and other European cities. The Alpine landscapes of the master were very popular in Russia - they were readily bought by the collectors, and reproduced by Russian magazines ("Niva", etc.). They were printed as postcards. In 1873 he won a medal at the World Exhibition in Vienna. Several paintings were purchased for the Austrian Royal Collection. He often combined the landscape with romantic motifs. The works are kept in the Austrian Belvedere Gallery, the Museum of Natural History in Vienna, and the art museums of Germany, Belgium, etc..
