Gliksberg Haim (1904 - 1970)

A Jewish artist. Born in Pinsk, Minsk province.The son of the rabbi of Odessa synagogue. He graduated from Odessa Art School. For some time he studied in Moscow. In 1925 he emigrated to Palestine, later moved to Jerusalem, and since 1929 he had lived in Tel Aviv. Painted the Israeli landscapes and still lifes in which the local color combined with the technique of the Paris School and Russian lyricism. One of the founders of the Association of the Tel-Aviv Painters and Sculptors. In 1931 was an adviser to Mayor M. Dizenhoff regarding the idea to arrange a city museum of Tel-Aviv. In 1948 he published a book with the reproductions of his own paintings and drawings dedicated to the Jewish poet H.-N. Bialik. Performed a series of portraits of the prominent Israeli figures. He was three times awarded the M. Dizenhoff Prize.
