Gnylytskyi Olexandr Anatoliyovych (1961 - 2009)

A Ukrainian artist, one of the central figures in contemporary Ukrainian art. He worked in different techniques and genres, i.e., painting, drawing, installation, art object, video art, photography, kinetic sculpture. Born in Kharkiv. From 1976 to 1980 he studied at Kharkiv Art Institute at the Department of Stage Design, during 1981 - 1987 - at the Department of Monumental Painting of the Ukrainian State Academy of Arts in Kyiv. In the late 1980s he was a member of the legendary Kyiv art group "Paris Commune". Since 1996 he was the co-founder and the leader of the social entity "Institution of Unstable Thoughts." He lived and worked in Kyiv and Munich. Exhibitor of numerous solo and group art exhibitions in Ukraine, Russia, USA, France, Croatia, Norway, Finland, Great Britain, Germany, Italy and Poland. The works presented in the NAMU, the Sumy Art Museum, the PinchukArtCenter, the State Russian Museum, Moscow Museum of Modern Art, as well as in private collections in Ukraine and abroad.
