Goffman Oscar Adolfovych (1851 - 1912)

A Russian painter, graphic artist, engraver. He was born in the town of Dorpat, Estonia. He studied at D_sseldorf Academy of Arts (1872 - 1877) under the tutelage of E. Gebhardt and Y. Dukker.  At the end of the 1870s he studied painting at F. Cormon Studio in Paris. Until 1882 he had worked in D_sseldorf, where he became a member of the "Dusseldorf Society of Aquafortists". Since 1883 he had lived and worked in St. Petersburg. Participated in the exhibitions since 1884. Often visited Estonia, painted genre scenes depicting peasant life, and landscapes. Author of numerous drawings and engravings. The works were exhibited at the World Exhibitions in Antwerp (1885), Berlin (1886), Paris (1889) and other cities. Since 1884 - Honorary member of Petersburg Academy of Arts on a pro-bono basis. Exhibitions were held in Tallinn (1954) and Riga (1955). His works are stored in the State Tallinn Art Museum, the State Latvian Musem, Omsk Museum of Fine Arts, etc.
