Erdeli Adalbert Mykhaylovych (1891 - 1955)

A Ukrainian painter, worked mainly in the genre of portrait, landscape, still life. One of the founders of the Transcarpathian school of painting. Born in the village of Zagattya, now Transcarpathian region. He studied at Budapest Art Academy under the guidance of I. Revesz, A. Grunwald. Since 1916 he lived in Mukachevo, from 1922 till 1926 - in Munich, in 1926 - in Uzhgorod and in the years of 1929 1931 in Paris. In 1927 together with J. Bokshay he founded Uzhgorod Art School, in 1931 union of workers of Fine Arts in Subcarpathian Rus. He taught painting in Mukachevo grammar school, teaching seminary in Uzhgorod, during 1945 - 1955 - in Uzhgorod School of Applied Arts. He lived and worked in Uzhgorod. His works are presented in the National Art Museum of Ukraine, Transcarpathian Art Museum named after J. Bokshay, in Prague National Gallery and many others.
