Erdeli Ivan (Janosh) Mykhaylovych (1902 - 1974)

A Ukrainian painter, younger brother of one of the founders of the Transcarpathian school of painting A. Erdeli. In 1920 he graduated from Budapest Art Academy, in 1930 - Uzhgorod teaching seminary. In 1934 in the article called "Karpatorusskaya painting" A. Erdeli wrote about his brothers creativity that he "represents the essence of nature in a big way, colorfully and expressively. Dislikes harsh colours ... All the little things of nature are not noticed, it takes him a long time to choose a topic, creates in his own spirit". He was a member of the union of workers of Fine Arts in Subcarpathian Rus, established in 1931 by J. Bokshay and A. Erdeli. In Slovakia and Transcarpathia there were held several solo exhibitions of the artist. He lived and worked mainly in Mukachevo and Uzhgorod. He was the author of still lives and landscapes.
