Gervais Paul Jean (1859 - 1936)

A French painter. Born in Toulouse. He graduated from the School of Fine Arts in Paris, where his teachers were such well-known masters as Jean-L_on G_r_me and Gabriel Ferrier. He began his exhibition activity in 1881. Member of French artists Association. His works were awarded prestigiously at the exhibitions in France (1898, 1900, 1908). He painted pictures on allegorical themes, secular scenes and portraits. He was very famous among his contemporaries, received large number of public and private orders. He also worked in monumental painting. Author of interior paintings in Casino in Nice, Hotel de Paris in Monte Carlo, etc. His works are presented in the Art Museums of Toulouse and Marseilles.
