Girardet Jules (1856 - 1946)

A famous French and Swiss artist. Born in Versailles. He studied at the School of Fine Arts in Paris under the guidance of O. Cabanel. Since 1876 his works were regularly exhibited in Paris salons. He received recognition as a master of gallant scenes and landscapes due to his elegance and lightness of brushwork. He created many lithographs of his own canvases. Author of decorative panels for the halls of the Great Council (legislative body) in Neuch_tel (Switzerland) and many other works of monumental painting. His works are presented in the Rath Museum (Le Mus_e Rath) in Geneva, the Art Museums of Nantes, Bern and Quimper (France).
