Zhuk Mykhaylo Ivanovych (1883 - 1964)

A Ukrainian graphic artist, painter and poet. He studied at Kyiv Drawing School of M. Murashko (under the guidance of H. Platonov and M. Pimonenko), at Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture and at Krakow Academy of Arts (in 1904 under the guidance of S. Vyspyanskyy and Y. Megoffer). Since 1917 - professor. From 1925 till 1953 he taught at Odessa Art School. He worked in the fields of easel painting and book graphics. Together with G. Narbut and F. Krychevskyy he was at the origins of the higher school of art in Ukraine. His works are kept in the National Art Museum of Ukraine, Odessa Art Museum and many others.
