Jost Josepf (1888 -?)

An Austrian artist. Born in Vienna. He studied and copied paintings of the old masters. In 1908 he first exhibited his works at the exhibition of Vienna Academy of Arts. In 1914 he joined the class for gifted students at Vienna Academy of Arts. During the First World War he served as an artist at the military department he painted portraits of military leaders, including Governor General of Montenegro. After the military campaign he devoted himself to the genre art and still life. He achieved such virtuosity in this area that his works became known as "Dutch." In the years of 1908 - 1924 he exhibited his pictures in the art galleries and showrooms of Vienna, during 1917 - 1918 - in Berlin Academy of Arts. His works are presented in the museums of Vienna.
