Kamenev Lev Lvovych (1833 - 1886)

A famous Russian artist, landscape painter. He studied at Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (1854 - 1857) under the guidance of K. Rebus and A. Savrasov. Pensioner of the Society for the Promotion of Artists in Munich, D_sseldorf, Switzerland (1862 - 1865). In 1867 he received the title of the class artist from St. Petersburg Academy of Arts. Academician of the Academy of Arts since 1869. Founding member of the Association of Traveling Art Exhibitions. He was on friendly terms with his teacher A. Savrasov after studying. Both masters were involved in the first art exhibition of the Itinerants, where they were highly marked by critics for the lyricism and poetry of the works presented. One of the most famous Russian landscape painters of the second half of the th century. The masters creative work played a major role in the formation of Russian national school of landscape painting.
