Kachura-Falilyeyeva Kateryna Mykolaivna (1886 - 1948)

A Ukrainian emigration artist, painter and graphic artist. Born in Warsaw in the family of Major General of Life Guards of Volyn regiment M. Rogal-Kachura. In 1907 she graduated from the painting department of Odessa Art School. During 1907 - 1914 she studied at St. Petersburg Academy of Arts under the guidance of D. Kardovskyy and M. Dubovskyy, attended an academic workshop of V. Mate. In 1909 she married the artist V. Falilyeyev. In the years of 1911 - 1912 together with her husband she worked in Italy. In 1912 on the island of Capri she met M. Gorkyy and performed his portrait in the technique of etching. She participated in the Spring exhibitions in the halls of the Academy of Arts (1910, 1913), in the 2nd Exhibition of Professional Painters Union - (1918), in the exhibitions of "The World of Arts" (1916, 1,917.1921), the Association of Traveling Art Exhibitions (1923), the Union of Russian Artists (1923), the Association of Artists of Revolutionary Russia (1923, 1924), etc. She participated in the group exhibitions; together with V. Falilyeyev she organized several exhibitions in Stockholm, Berlin and Rome. During 1924 - 1926 she lived in Stockholm, in the years of 1926 1928 - in Berlin, and since 1938 - in Rome. She worked in the techniques of pastel, monotypy, lithography, etching. Mostly she performed the portraits and paintings in the Russian style.
