Clairin Georges Victor (1843 - 1919)

A French painter, graphic and theater artist. Born in Paris. In 1861 he graduated from Paris School of Fine Arts where he studied under the guidance of such outstanding masters as I. Pils and F.-_. Picot. Permanent member of the Paris Salons since 1866. He painted romantic pictures of historical themes, battle and genre scenes, and portraits of prominent art workers. Author of decorative panels in Paris Opera House. He designed performances in the theatres of Cherbourg and Tours. He was known as a book illustrator. His works are kept in the Louvre, d'Orsay Museum in Paris, in the Art Museums of Dieppe, Rouen, in the  Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
