Kozyk Mykhayo Yakymovych (1879 - 1947)

A Ukrainian painter. Born in the village of Semenivka, now Chernihiv region. He studied at Kyiv Art School under the guidance of G. Dyachenko and M. Pimonenko (1904 - 1909), at Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture under the guidance of K. Korovin (1909 - 1913). During 1915 - 1925 he taught at Kyiv Art School, during 1925 - 1932 Ð at Kyiv Institute of Art (since 1925 Ð the Professor), during 1932 Ð 1941 Ð at Kharkiv Institute of Art. Since 1926 he was a member of the Association of Artists of Ukraine Red. He painted portraits, landscapes, scenes of folk life. His pictures are stored in the collections of the National Art Museum of Ukraine, Kharkiv Art Museum, etc.
