Korin Olexiy Mykhaylovych (1865 - 1923)

A Famous Russian painter. Born in the village of Palekh, Volodymyr province. He belonged to the dynasty of Palekh icon painters. The artists grandfather owned his icon painting workshop and was a famous miniature painter. He got good training of icon painting under the guidance of his uncle D. Corin. He studied at icon painting workshops in the Trinity-Sergius Lavra (1876 - 1877), at the workshops of the academician of painting, icon painter V. Shokorev in Moscow. During 1884 - 1889 he studied at Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture under the guidance of I. Pryanishnikov, V. Polenov and V. Makovskyy. After school he got a great silver medal and the title of the class artist. He took part in the exhibitions since 1885. Member and exhibitor of Moscow Society of Art Lovers (1890 - 1894, 1903, 1908, 1910), the Association of Traveling Art Exhibitions (1891 - 1923), Moscow society of painting (1893, 1895). He taught at Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (1894 - 1918) and Strohanov Central School of Arts and Crafts (early 1900s). In 1900 he was an exhibitor of the World Exhibition in Paris. From 1911 till 1912 he participated in the painting of Nevsky Cathedral in Sofia. Since 1912 - Academician of Painting. In 1923 in the last exhibition of the Society of southern Russian artists the artists solo exhibition was held. Genre and landscape painter, author of interior works and portraits. His works are presented in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum and other museums of Russia.
