Kotarbinskyy Wilgelm Olexandrovych (1849 - 1921)

A Polish and Ukrainian artist. Bright representative of the "Art Nouveau" style. Born in Neborov, Lublin province. He studied at Warsaw Drawing School (1867 - 1869) and the Academy of Saint Luke in Rome, where he received a gold medal as the best graphic artist of Rome. Since 1905 - academician. He lived in Kyiv, took part in the decoration of Volodymyr Cathedral (1887 - 1895). He painted pictures of mythological and biblical scenes, portraits and symbolic compositions. His works are stored in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, Kyiv National Museum of Russian Art, in the museums of Poland, etc.
