Kotska Andriy Andriyovych (1911 - 1987)

A Ukrainian painter. Born in Uzhgorod. During 1927 - 1931 he studied at Uzhgorod Art School under the guidance of A. Erdeli, from 1940 till 1942 - at the Academy of Arts in Rome under the guidance of F. Ferrazzi. Since 1932 he began his exhibition activity. His personal exhibitions were held in Uzhgorod, Kyiv and Moscow. Member of the Artists' Union of the USSR since 1946. People's Artist of USSR since 1982. He lived and worked in Uzhgorod. Bright representative of Transcarpathian school of painting, the master of poetic folk images. He painted portraits, landscapes and still lives. His works are presented in the National Art Museum of Ukraine, Transcarpathian Art Museum named after Y. Bokshay and other museums of Ukraine, Russia and Europe. In Uzhgorod there is an estate-museum of A. Kotska.
