Krause Heinrich (1885 - 1983)

An Austrian artist. Born in Rodaun, Austria. He studied at Vienna Academy of Arts under the guidance of U. Berger and K. Gripenkerl. He participated in the exhibitions since 1903. Member of Vienna Session (1914 - 1937), a member of Vienna union of artists (Vienna Kunstlerhaus, since 1937). In 1934 he was promoted to the professor. For outstanding artistic achievements he was awarded the Art Prize of Vienna (1925, 1940), the Austrian National Prize (1928, 1937, 1965), the gold medals of Graz (1930) and Vienna (1942, 1955), the Austrian Order of Respect in Science and Art (1961), the Prize of the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Art (1970). He lived and worked in Vienna. He painted portraits, landscapes, still lives and allegorical compositions. His works are presented in the Austrian Belvedere gallery, the Albertina Gallery, the Museum of Art History in Vienna and other art museums of Austria and Germany.
