Kupriyanov Mykhailo Vasylyovych (1903 - 1991)

A Russian painter and graphic artist. Born in the village of Tetyushi, Kazan province. During 1920 - 1921 he studied at the Central art educational workshops in Tashkent, from 1921 till 1929 - at the Higher state artistic and technical workshops the Higher Art and Technical Institute under the guidance of P. Myturych, P. Kupreyanov and P. Lvov. One of the members of the creative group "Kukryniksy". He took part in the exhibitions since 1929. He was engaged in satirical graphics, political cartoons, posters, book illustrations. He collaborated with many Soviet magazines and newspapers ("Pravda" (The Trueth), "Krocodil" (The Crocodile), etc.). He was awarded the titles of a current member of the Academy of Arts of the USSR (1947), People's Artist of the USSR (1958), Hero of Socialist Labor (1973). He lived and worked in Moscow. Master of urban landscape. His works are stored in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, the State Museum of Fine Arts, Vilnius State Museum, etc.
