Maykovskyy Ipolyt Danylovych (1885 - 1963)

A Ukrainian painter. Born in Romny, now Sumy region. He graduated from Kiev Art School (1910) and the painting department of Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, where he studied under the guidance of K. Korovin, L. Pasternak and A. Arkhipov. He worked as a theater artist in Kiev and Moscow. In 1915 he moved to Turkey, in 1920 - to the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes. From 1944 till 1951 he lived in Austria, then moved to Belgium. He taught drawing in high schools. He held solo exhibitions in Split (1922, 1927, 1930, 1937), Sarajevo (1930), Belgrade (1934, 1936), Ljubljana (1935, 1940), Zagreb (1935, 1939). He participated in group exhibitions, including  the Great Exhibition of Russian Art in Belgrade (1930). He painted seascapes and views of the old fishing villages on the Adriatic coast and also portraits and still lives, but not so often.
