Malyavin Pylyp Andriyovych (1869 - 1940)

A Russian painter and graphic artist. Born in the village of Kazanka, Orenburg province. He studied at the icon-painting workshops of Athos monastery in Greece (1885 - 1891), at St. Petersburg Academy of Arts (1892 - 1899) under the guidance of I. Repin. He graduated from the Academy of Arts with the title of the artist. Member of the Union of Russian Artists (since 1903). Participant of numerous exhibitions in Russia and abroad. Since 1906 - Academician of the Academy of Arts. He lived in St. Petersburg and at the suburbs of Ryazan. In 1919 he taught at Ryazan Public free art workshop. He visited France. Since 1922 he lived abroad, died in Brussels. Genre and portrait painter, excellent graphic artist. For his creative style ornamentality of folk motives and intensity of colour are typical.
