Manevych Abram Anshelovych (1888 - 1942)

A Jewish painter. Born in Mstislavl, now Belarus. From 1901 till 1905 he studied at Kiev Art School. In 1920 he went abroad for medical treatment and since then lived in the USA. He painted cityscapes, including Kiev ones, based on the achievements of Impressionism. During 1925 - 1927 he performed a series of urban landscapes called "Prosaic America," where he depicted the contrasts of the modern city. He died in New York. Author of landscape compositions and portraits.
