Menk Volodymyr Karlovych (1856 - 1920)

A Russian landscape painter. From 1876 till 1878 he studied at the drawing school of the Society for the Promotion of Artists and graduated from it with a medal, from 1878 till 1881 at St. Petersburg academy of Arts. He took lessons from I. Shishkin, I. Kramskoy. In 1880 for the painting "Morning in the swamp" he received the second prize the Society for the Promotion of Artists, then this work was acquired by P. Tretyakov. He participated in the decoration of the Volodymyr Cathedral in Kyiv. From 1892 till 1920 he taught at Kyiv Drawing School of M. Murashko. He exhibited his works at the exhibitions of the Society for the Promotion of Artists, the Association of Traveling Art Exhibitions (participated in 16 exhibitions), St. Petersburg Academy of arts and international ones - in Berlin, London and Venice.
