Meshcherskyy Arseniy Ivanovych (1834 - 1902)

A Russian landscape painter. Born in Tver province. He studied at St. Petersburg Academy of Arts (1854 - 1857) in the classes of F. Bruni and S. Vorobyov. In 1857 and 1859 he received large gold and silver medals. He received the title of the artist in 1859. Pensioner of Petersburg Academy of Arts in Switzerland (1857 - 1863), he repeatedly visited Finland, the Crimea, he often came to Ukraine. Since 1864 - Academician, since 1876 - professor of landscape painting, taught at St. Petersburg Acadmy of Arts. He created many works based on the materials of his trips. He was famous as a good colorist. The landscapes of the master were bought by P. Tretyakov. His works are kept in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, and many other museum collections.
