Orlovskyy Volodymyr Donatovych (1842 - 1914)

A Ukrainian artist and landscape painter. Born in Kyiv. He received his elementary art education in the gymnasium in Kyiv under the guidance of the artist I. Soshenko. From 1861 till 1868 he studied in St. Petersburg Academy of Arts, academician of which he became in 1874, professor in 1878. He worked in France, Germany, Switzerland and Italy. He participated in the activities of Kyiv Drawing School of M. Murashko. He was one of the organizers of Kyiv Art School. He died in Italy. His works are presented in the National Art Museum of Ukraine, the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, in the Art Museums of Sevastopol, Kharkiv, Lugansk and Rostov, Novgorod and in many others.
