Stakhovskyy Vladyslav Karlovych (1852 - 1932)

A Russian and Polish painter. Born in the village of Cuba on the shores of the Caspian Sea. He graduated From Tiflis classical school, in 1879 he entered St. Petersburg Academy of Arts. In 1880 he won two silver medals, in 1881 - two silver medals and an encouraging one. Then, for some time he studied at the Technological Institute, but not finishing his studying, he went to America, where he worked for several years first, as a builder, then as a farmer and an artist. He studied in New York. At the end of the 1880s he continued his studying in St. Petersburg Academy of Arts, from which he graduated in 1889 with the rank of extra-class artist of landscape painting. He returned to Tiflis, where since 1890 he participated in the exhibitions and in 1899 he began teaching. In 1904 he lived and worked in Munich. After the revolution of 1917, he moved to Poland, exhibited his works in Warsaw, Krak_w and Bydgoszczy. Author of mountain views of Georgia, ocean views and genre scenes. His works are presented in the Art Museums of Krak_w, Warsaw and in many others.
