Hamza Johann (1850 - 1927)

An Austrian painter. Born in Teltsch, Czech Republic. He studied in Vienna Academy of Arts under the guidance of E. von Engerth. From 1879 till 1890 he exhibited his works at the exhibitions in Vienna, Dresden, Munich and London, where in 1891 he received a gold medal. He painted portraits and genre scenes from the life of aristocratic society in luxurious interiors or architectural background, preferred rococo style. Thanks to the master in 1880 in Vienna the genre painting was flourishing. The artists paintings, usually small, had a huge demand during his life, and now they enjoy great popularity in the antique market.
