Hasch Carl (1834 - 1897)

A famous Austrian painter. Born in Vienna. After graduation from Vienna Academy of Arts he made a long journey to the northern Italy, Switzerland and Belgium, where he created a large series of landscape compositions. One of the landscapes was successfully presented at the World Exhibition in Vienna (1873). In 1872 he performed a monumental canvas depicting the Postojna Cave for Vienna Natural Museum, which for many years was reproduced in Austrian textbooks of geography. He led active exhibition activity, performed governmental orders, the artists landscapes were repeatedly awarded with prizes and medals. He gained fame as a master of paintings with alpine views. One of the brightest representatives of the late Romanticism. His works are kept in the Municipal History Museum in Vienna, in Hamburg Kunsthalle and in many other museums and private collections in Austria, Germany and Switzerland.
