Khymych Yuriy Ivanovych (1928 - 2003)

A Ukrainian architect and graphic artist. Born in KamyaÕnets-Podilskyy. In 1950 he graduated from Kyiv Institute of Engineering and Construction. From 1955 till 1958 he studied at the postgraduate course of the Academy of Architecture of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic. His teachers were Y. Steinberg and O. Shovkunenko. Participant of republican, all-union and international exhibitions since 1956. He taught at Kyiv Institute of Civil Engineering (1964 - 1985) and Kyiv Institute of Art (since 1989 - professor). Member of the National Union of Artists (1966), Honored Artist of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic (1990). He held many personal exhibitions in Ukraine and abroad. He worked mainly in the techniques of watercolour, gouache, monotype, portrayed the architectural monuments of Ukraine, Russia, Baltics, Central Asia, Caucasus, Finland, Poland, etc. He illustrated magazines, books on history and culture. His works are stored in the National Art Museum of Ukraine, Kyiv History Museum, in the Art Museums of Russia, the Baltic States, Poland, etc.
