Khrushch Valentyn Dmytrovych (1943 - 2005)

A Ukrainian painter, graphic artist, a cult figure of Odessa underground in 1960s - 1970s. Born in Odessa. Since the age of 14 - a constant exponent of the regional exhibitions in Odessa. For some time he studied at Odessa Art School under the guidance of M. Zaitsev, Y. Egorov, M. Pavlyuk. In the 1970s he led the artistic group "9", was the organizer and active participant in the "apartment" and the street ("fence") shows. In 1981 he moved to Moscow, was a member of the creative alliance of the artists called "Yakymanka" where he held nine exhibitions. In 1984 he was invited to organize the exhibition hall in Cheremunshkyy area of Moscow in Belyaevo, besides from him, the group of the exhibitors included Y. Pliss, S. Alfyerov, O. Sobolev, K. Medvedev, O. Lisovskyy, etc. As a member of "Belyayevskyy group" he held a series of exhibitions, including the city of Linz (Austria) and the city of Panev__ys (Lithuania). During 1981 - 2002 he held 15 solo exhibitions. Since 1995 he lived and worked in Kimry in the environs of Moscow. His works are kept in the permanent exhibition of UNESCO in Paris, in the National Museum in Vienna, the National Art Museum of Ukraine, in the Art Museum of Odessa; he repeatedly presented his works at the art auctions, including Sotheby's and Phillips de Pury.
