Shulga Ivan Mykolayovych (1889 - 1956)

A Ukrainian painter, graphic and poster artist. Born in the village of Mykhailivka, Kherson region. In 1911 he graduated from Odessa Art School (studied under the guidance of K. Kostandi, G. Ladyzhenskyy). From 1917 till 1922 he studied at St. Petersburg Academy of Arts (in the workshops of I. Tvorozhnykov and V.Savinskiy). Since 1922 he lived and worked in Odessa. Since 1926 he was a member of the Association of Artists of Ukraine Red, since 1938 Ð member of the Union of Artists of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic. In the 1930s in Kharkiv a series of postcards based on the works of the artist with the views of Kharkiv and the posters of industrialization, Soviet sport and others was published. Honoured Artist of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic since 1946.
