Grachev Vasyl Yakovych (1831 - 1905)
A famous Russian sculptor, master of chamber bronze sculpture. For six years he studied in the studio of the famous silversmith master D. Andreev in St. Petersburg, where the products for the imperial court were created. Later he worked in the workshop of I. Syzykov, in the factories of K. Verfel, P. Ovchynnykov, I. Khlebnykov. In 1885 he opened his own studio, where he carried out governmental orders. The same year he won a silver medal at the Art and Industrial Exhibition in St. Petersburg. He was famous as a master of small forms of sculpture. Author of genre scenes, historical and military plots. His works are presented in the State Russian Museum, the State Historical Museum in Moscow and in many others.
