Gavrylenko Grygoriy Ivanovych (1927 - 1984)
A well-known representatives of the Ukrainian nonconformism, graphic artist and painter. Born in the village of Holopkove, Sumy region. From 1945 till 1949 he studied at Kyiv Art School. In 1955 he graduated from the Graphic Department of Kyiv Institute of Art (the workshop of I. Pleschynskyy). Participant of the republican and all-union exhibitions since 1955. He designed and illustrated over 30 books, the most famous of which were Dante's Vita nova (1965), "The Knight in the Panther's Skin" by Shota Rustaveli (1966), "Completion" by M. Bazhan (1979). He worked on large graphic and picturesque cycles in which he developed the images of women and nature. He lived and worked in Kyiv. In 2007 at the National Art Museum there was held a memorial exhibition of the artist. His works are kept in the collections of the National Art Museum and in other Art Museums of Ukraine.
