A German painter, representative of Dusseldorf Art School. Born in Cologne. In 1841 he entered Dusseldorf Academy of Arts. After the academy he traveled across Germany, visited Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Belgium, that experience influenced the artistic style of the master. He pained landscapes, genre and battle scenes. He lived and worked in Cologne. His works are kept in Cologne City Museum, Wallraf-Richartz Museum in Cologne, in the Art Museum of Nordrhein-Westfalen in Dusseldorf.
