Afanasyev Leonid Mytrofanovych (1889 - 1971)

A Ukrainian and Russian painter and graphic artist. Born in Mykolayiv. In 1916 he graduated from Petrograd Polytechnic Institute. He studied at the studio of the artist Y. Shpazhynskiy (1919 - 1925). Since 1910 he participated in the art exhibitions in Sevastopol and in the Crimea. Until 1939 he lived and worked in Sevastopol. Since 1939 he was a scientific worker in Voronezh Museum of Fine Arts. His personal exhibitions took place in Voronezh (1959, 1964). He was the Honored Worker of Culture of Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic since 1959. He is the author of articles about art. He painted landscapes, still lives, genre pictures. His works are stored in Sevastopol Art Museum, in Voronezh Museum of Fine Arts, etc.
