Rubanov Iosiph Mendelevich (1903 - 1988)

A Russian painter. Born in the town of Novozybkov, Bryansk region. During 1925 - 1930 he studied in the Higher state artistic and technical workshops under the guidance of A. Osmerkin, I. Mashkov, K. Favorskiy. Participant of Moscow, republican and national exhibitions since 1927. Member of the Belarusian Union of Artists (1927 - 1930). Member of the Artists’ Union of the USSR since 1933. His personal exhibitions were held in Moscow (1938, 1939, 1943, 1992). He lived and worked in Moscow. He painted portraits, landscapes, still lifes and thematic pictures. His works are presented in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, the State Historical Museum in Moscow, the Chuvash Art Museum.
