Chirakhov Karapet Khageresovich (Chirahyan Karpo Khachaturovich, 1877 - 1913)
A Russian and Ukrainian painter and graphic artist. Born in Simferopol. In 1898 he graduated with honors from the drawing school of Odessa Society for the Encouragement of Arts. During 1898 - 1907 (with interruptions) he studied in the Higher Art School of painting, sculpture and architecture of St. Petersburg Academy of Arts in the studio of I. Repin. From 1902 till 1904 he traveled to Spain, Germany, Italy and France. The master’s travel works were later published as a separate album. In 1903 on A. Rodin’s advice he opened a workshop in Paris. In 1907 he received the title of the artist for his picture "The Emperor Augustus’s Return from Egypt" and began teaching. Author of scenery sketches for the Mariinsky Theatre. He lived and worked in St. Petersburg. He painted landscapes, portraits and genre scenes. His works are kept in the National Picture Gallery of Armenia, in the museums of Russia, Italy, France, etc.
