Krychevskyy Vasyl Grygorovych (1872 - 1952)

A Ukrainian painter, graphic artist, architect. His brothers V. Krychevskyy and F. Krychevskyy were the founders of the outstanding artistic dynasty. He received his architectural and artistic education himself, working under the guidance of the architects S. Zagoskin and A. Beketov and attending lectures at Kharkiv University. During 1913 - 1915 he was the artistic director of the weaving workshop in the village of Olenivka. In 1943 his relatives took him abroad, when the artist was seriously ill. The artist of the cinema and the theatre, the master of arts and crafts. In painting he used the achievements of impressionism, in decorative arts he resorted to the stylization of folk art.
