Macco Georg (1863 - 1933)

A German painter, graphic artist and illustrator. Born in Aachen. During 1880 - 1887 he studied at Düsseldorf Academy of Arts under the guidance of J. Janssen and O. G. Düker. He continued his artistic education in Munich, where he made ​​several study trips - into the Alps, to Norway, Svalbard and Italy. The pictures, written during his traveling in the East - in Constantinople, Athens, Palestine, Lebanon, Egypt and Arabia, gained great popularity. He painted mainly landscapes, interiors, urban scenes. He performed a series of picturesque images of Orthodox churches. His works are kept in the art museums of Dusseldorf, Munich, Aachen, Paris and in many other museums.
