Orlov Georgiy Markovych (1906 -?)

A Russian and Ukrainian theater and graphic artist. Born in Poltava in the family of the royal army colonel, grandson of Count Orlov. After the First World War, the family moved to Kharkiv. Because of a noble origin he could not get art education. In 1924 he graduated from Kharkiv Art College and worked as a designer at various theaters. In 1937 he was exiled to Ashkhabad, where he hardly found the job of the artist in the Russian Drama Theatre named after O. Pushkin. In 1946 he received permission to return to Ukraine. He settled in Odessa, worked as an art director in Odessa drama theater. Since 1956 he was an art director of the Russian Drama Theatre. He designed theatrical sketches and decorations for Bolshoi Theater of the USSR. In 1976 in Paris there was issued the Encyclopedia of theater artists of the world of XIX - XX centuries, which published a great article about the artist.
